Detailed Answer
Many think Christian life is all prohibitions — no gambling, no drunkenness, no indulgence. Sounds dull, right? But think: does someone who successfully quit drugs find life without drugs boring? No! They feel free, finally alive.
The things Christians avoid — gambling, drunkenness, sexual excess — are actually bondages. Gamblers can't stop, alcoholics know it's harmful but can't quit, porn addicts find relationships increasingly empty. Christians aren't being deprived of pleasure; they're being freed from prison.
In reality, Christians enjoy rich, colorful lives: sports, travel, art, good food, deep friendships, loving families. They simply refuse what harms themselves and others.
Moreover, this change isn't through gritted-teeth endurance but God transforming desires from within. Like someone who learned to appreciate classical music naturally loses interest in noise — not forced, but taste elevated.
Paul said: 'For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore' (Gal 5:1). The truly colorful life is found in Christ.
