Isn't faith just superstition? Rational people don't need faith.

简答 Short Answer

Christian faith is not blind superstition but rational trust based on evidence. In fact, everyone lives by faith — your trust in reason itself is a form of faith.

Detailed Answer

Biblical 'faith' (pistis) is not 'believing despite evidence' but 'trust based on evidence.' Hebrews 11:1 says faith is 'the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen' — it's a well-grounded conviction.

Ironically, claiming to 'only believe in reason' is itself a faith statement — you cannot use reason to prove 'reason is the only path to truth.' That's circular reasoning. Rationalism itself depends on presuppositions that cannot be rationally proven.

Christian faith has rich rational foundations: the origin of the universe, the design of life, the objectivity of morality, the historical evidence for Jesus, the endurance of the Church — all point to the reasonableness of faith.
