Self and No-Self: The True Identity of Humanity
Core Argument
Buddhism's core doctrine of 'no-self' (anatta) holds that a fixed, enduring self is illusion. But this raises deep philosophical questions: If there is no self, who practices? Who is reborn? Who attains Nirvana? Christianity teaches humans are made in God's image (imago Dei), possessing eternal value and identity. The self is not illusion — you are a person loved by God, unique, with an eternal destiny. The problem isn't the existence of the self but its fallenness — the solution is redemption of the self, not its annihilation.
